In late 2021 Florian was introduced to a group of aviators. Their unique tax position created an interesting challenge: modify the tax treaty on avoidance of double taxation between the Netherlands and Luxembourg. Along the way the tax niche in which aviators reside became more visible. But, there was a gap between reality and theory. Working in a dynamic international environment results in a complex tax position. Florian recognizes this complexity from working with athletes.
As it showed during the work on the Luxembourg case, it was not a one-time problem. Aviators and taxation are constantly in a struggle. This continuously need for monitoring along with the specific the knowledge gained during the way created the opportunity to start a tax boutique specialized in aviators: Hill • Anderson.
On a more personal level Florian likes to challenge the laws of nature as well. He still runs ultra-marathons, amongst one of them being the legendary Marathon des Sables. According to the Discovery channel the “toughest footrace on earth”.
